the air strike patrol are simple but fun. perfect little bit of G1 goodness for yer pockets. mimes need a little clean and a tighten up ! there joints are super wibbly afters years of play and storage

Armada Minicon Iceberg Thoughts

Iceberg's treads tumbled turgidly onwards into the white void of Antarctica. the repetitive endless purity of the snow and ice broken only by the burnt out husks of fallen cybertronians. there vital fluids splattered the other wise pristine landscape. the contrast was stark and striking to iceberg. a beautiful horrific work of landscape art. the little minicon approached one husk that practically dwarfed him. the now dead robots form twisted and contorted and half burred in snow and almost fully frozen. its face stuck in exhausted terror. its gouged out eye sockets stare into icebergs spark. the little bot unfazed by the corps got straight to work. transforming quickly and functionally he leaps into the icey body helped by a short burst of rocket booster flame from his legs. with scavenge and recovery his mission  he begins to tear salvageable components from the fallen bot. the transformation cog is easily obtained from the hole ware the corpse's chest used to be. the last drops of usable energon  carefully syfened from deep in the brain creator. this poor creature had a name once. an algence that was autobot, decpticon or other that matters not to iceberg. there are many many more corpes littering the last battlefield on earth and iceberg loves his job. he once more trundles into the void.


Iceberg is an astounding solid and girthy minicon to maybe a boring degree. he is however very orange in a way i can hella get behind. orange so you can see him in the snow ! safety first everybody ! origanily part of the adventure minicon team he comes to me via the lovely people at the British red cross. a tasty little find undermined by the fact that i already own an iceberg from my time as a child. still cant have to many bots right !

Alt mode 

According to the transformers wiki icebergs alt mode is a snow "groomer". not the most dignified name but it somewhat suits the little guy. its the kind of vehicle i cant really get into. i can imagen myself driving this little thing on wee mr plow based adventures. living in the cabin during a blizzard. also it totally has duel rocket boosters on the back ! thats super rad ! tiny little cylinders of power !


Transformation

I doubt minicons were known for there transformation complexity. there fun little guys meant to combine with the bigger dudes from armada for good fun times. iceberg shoots out his little legs and tuns his waist and pops out his head from his quit substantial hunch back and boom yer done ! short sweet and full of finger fun. some times i don't flip his legs round. i'm an rebel.


Robot

Stocky. hes a stocky little orange bot. all business standing to attention. proud of every inch of his bright and chonky bod. rocking a huge snow plow collar with a quite dignity. dull green optics illuminate his Nobel face lined with sculpted detail. his arms are adorned in traditional robot tredds a classic look this classy man wares well. and oh yes. his legs are rocket boosters. i wont be assaulted by your realty they are indeed rocket boosters.


Poseablity 

Iceberg has cut joints at his shoulder and pelvis witch he makes great use of. he can lift his arms about 90 degrees from his chest . which as a human with a highly bred based diet i find this feat very impressive. a key feature of this mold is his waist joint. it breaths tremendous life into the figure. without it i doubt iceberg would be the hidden gem that he is.

Gimmick

Iceberg has a little gear wheel thingy in his chest that moves his plow when u roll him across smooth surfaces. i chose to believe this is a weapon of his . a grinder that he feeds his enemy's faces into. also he has this little crane armed thingy. i like it but i don't find much use of it in either mode.


7/10 love this little guy i wold defo recommend a pick up if u have the chance !

A stream of consciousness about my feeling on my own comic reading laziness

I love comics

I really do. comics are a fantastic vast and varied medium. i mostly read super hero comics it has to be said. but still it is vast.

Over the last year lets say iv found it harder and harder to read comics. i think this is mostly my fault but i don't think comics are entirely blameless.

Maybe im just getting burnt out on weekly comics. time was i would rush out early on a Wednesday to my local shop then rush home and read all of my haul there and then . id then hurriedly upload my thoughts on those comics to the mad hat pirates blog. the quality of those articles was probily poor nevertheless i hella enjoyed writing them. it was an outlet for my thoughts on comics. it made me feel part of the larger comics conversation even if our readership was only seven bored bots.

Now i lay most of the blame for my every increasing apathy over comics squarely at myself. im famously lazy and i let the stack build up. i let my self get frustratingly behind on issues to the point ware most of the comics im buying each week cant be read. i decided to cut my loses on  lot of dcs books leading up to rebirth considering they were mostly filler.

Theirs a few reasons for this stack clog. a lot of comics start of great with fantastic creative teams and plots but as the years and issues roll on these grate people and plots are replaced buy inferior to me at least un interesting folk. im looking at you DC. iv read all of the new 52 PISH green lantern book. because im mad and because someone had to witness its fall. someone had to stay with it while it died its sad quite death. that someone was me. and most likely thousands of other madmen. other comics are still well written but i lose interest in them because i just dont find them fun to read any more like saga or rat queens. these comics are examples of the old man in me disagreeing with the tumblr based youth of today. tumblr based young people comics are becoming quite the strong voice in comics today,  thats great for lots of reasons but a lot of the time i find my self yelling at them to get off my damn lawn.

Iv taken steps to sort out my life in comics. iv taken long hard looks at my pull list. DCs rebirth has helped lots. iv droped long standing new 52 stalwarts like detective comics and batman. though i have adde dew titles  from rebirth but most of them debut later in the year so weil cross that bridge when we come to it. a more pressing concern is boom studios well written new mighty morphing power ranger comics and there spin off as well as my brains perverse desire to actually buy monthly transformers comics.

Still buying new comics should lead to a revitlased interest. well it should. As i sit here tapping away at this article the stack looms ever bigger. i haven't read spider-man in many months. i fear to go back. i fear how much dense dan slott banter ill have to wade threw. i am weak man.

I think i have become burnt out on the endless cycles of comics. marvel has proven itself a meaningless place to invest in. sure there's grate story's written here and there but  every book renumbers itself #1 every six or so months. all new all the time ! its a just a factory for future movie plots. Steve rogers being an agent of hydra being a agent of hydra seem a lot easier to swallow as the plot of captain america 4 don@t it ? ware it can be resolved in the span of two and a half hours.

DC doesn't fair much better with its ever changing writers and corporate mandates of what superman should be and its shilling of harly quin as deadpool with tits. i started reading comics as a marvel fan . first with the uk reprints of mark waid  excellent fantastic four run and then with the gauntlet story arc of amazing spiderman starting my weekly visits to my local comic shop. more and more over the last 4 or 5 years iv turned into a DC fanboy. mostly thanks to the new 52s and writers like goff johns and grant Morrison. ill defend the new 52. a lot of good story's we'r told. just not really over the last 2 years. DC has habit of following really good runs with really terrible runs. i think that's been a big factor in me losing interest in my fave company.

Also iv been reading comics for like the last ten years and all my life really if we include the beano and stuff. its possible iv just gotten a lill board with them for now. i still love comics. i will always love comics. ill allways love to talk endlessly about comics. ill always love to complain about comics too. im just in a funk at the moment. hopefully this blog can help me get threw these dark dank listless lazy times. hopefully these little chats of ours will focus my thoughts into laser sharp ramblings of a hopefully entertaining nature. at the very least i might even improve my spelling !

So yes comics are way cool and i am the problem. a threat to my self and comics every ware.

the dark knight returns: the last crusade was basically fine

you fools ! this isn't even my final form ! 

Ack its kinda sad. what i think we want from frank miler in this day and age is entertaining madness and we're not getting that at all. what we're getting is well written if a little boring comics. well dark knight 3 might not be well written but its inoffensive at least if only in comparison to millers famously terrible double act of the dark knight strikes again and all star batman and robin.

The last crusade tells the tale of the death of the dark knights universes jason todd and it dose that surprisingly well. batman in this tale is written STAGGERINGLY  humanly. with coherent thoughts and feelings on his own mortality and increasing age. its a far cry from the GOD DAMN BATMAN. thes very little repetitive miller dialog and what we do get is from the joker which works for his insane personalty. like its not good dialog bit it fits for him at least.

The females of the comic sadly don't come off better than other miller works. existing mostly to be victims or to be slept with or to be more than a little domonatrixy but that fits with late arrival vilian poison ivs character. at least non of them are out like or liken to prostitutes. so that's a small positive step at least.


It feels a lot closer to the dark knight returns in tone than the main dark knight 3 book that this ones spun out from. prolly thanks to jr jrs art which is lovely but doesn't feel like his best work. not necessarily bad jr jr art but its a bit meh here and there.

I did enjoy the tone set for the book . it felt a little like a bronze age batman story. i think because of the focuse on batman and robin and the more human and very un bat god ish depiction of Bruce. that bronze age tone makes sense for something that's meant to lead into the very dark age dark knight returns.

We didn't really need to know how jason todd died but this book did an effective job detailing jasons place in the canon of this universe and his eventual fate. which might be a lot more sinister than being beaten to death, though that also happens. because its grim yo.

So  that's all well and goo then. millers no longer churning out that offensive crap he turned to so heavily after his sin city days. buttttttttt how much of of this book was actually written by miller is debatable. brain azzarelos been co writing this and dk3 with miller and iv herd tell azzarelos the one been doing most of the heavy lifting on the writing duties. witch is hella believable with the sheer lack of millers calling cards.

Miller dose good work whens hes not actually doing the writing. soon we will just have frank miller as a brand . like tom Clancy.  better comics is what we should stive for but what will happen to the madness ?

you guys. kimberly hart is just a kamen rider. shes a lone motor cycle riding henshin hero fighting monsters who SPOILERS used to be human.

Its the most showa ass stuff you will ever see. all that's missing is a cafe to hang out at in between rider kicking monster butt. that said we're only 1 issue in. theirs still plenty of time.

Oh yeah. its also a pretty darn great comic !  i was a wee bit wary of getting into spin off culture. spesh with boom studios mmpr book only being two or three issues old. luckily my comic book suplyer is basically a paper drug dealer and knows i couldn't resist the allure of a new power rangers comic in my docket.

 Mmpr pink is a surprising triumph. Its a great example of  pleasing the fan base with content that not only we want to see but also has a reason to exist. the story follows Kimberly after she left the tv show for European gymnastics fame but now set booms neo 90s universe. what Kimberly did after leaving the power rangers is a fun topic of fan discussion. spesh reguarding her dear john letter to Tommy. what she dose after being a power ranger is,,,,, be a power ranger ! awesome !

Its lots of fun ! filed with deep lore cuts and new costumes ! that costume. those pouches. those black bits. classy liefeldian magic and wonder. well it is the neo 90s after all. theirs prolly no reason for the suit to have pouches but eh it looks good and i'm all for it

so yea if your a power ranger and comic fan this is a must read
